Birmingham man charged after allegedly spitting at bus driver

A man has been charged with battery after it is alleged he spat at a bus driver while claiming he had Covid-19.
Austin Haynes, of Bristol Road South in Northfield, is alleged to have refused to pay for a ticket when he boarded the 126 bus on Tuesday (14 April). When challenged by the female bus driver, it is alleged he claimed he had Covid-19 and spat at the driver before getting off the bus.
Following his appearance at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (17 April), the 43-year-old was bailed for a further hearing on 10 July.
